Once Upon a Time…

A Warning from Mother Goat
One day, Mother Goat needed to go to the market to buy food. Before leaving, she gathered her kids and warned them about the big, bad wolf who lived in the forest.
“Dear children,” she said, “be careful while I’m gone. The wolf is very cunning and will try to trick you. If he gets in, he will eat you all up. Remember, the wolf has a rough voice and black feet. You will know it’s him. Don’t open the door to anyone unless it’s me!”
The little goats promised to be careful, and Mother Goat set off for the market.
The Wolf’s Trickery
Soon after Mother Goat left, there was a knock at the door. “Open the door, my dear children,” said a voice. “It’s your mother. I’ve brought something for each of you!”
But the little goats heard the rough voice and knew it was the wolf. “We won’t open the door!” they cried. “You’re not our mother. She has a soft, gentle voice!”
The wolf was angry that his plan didn’t work, so he went to a miller and swallowed some chalk to make his voice sound softer. Then he returned to the goats’ house and knocked again.
“Open the door, my dear children,” the wolf said in a much softer voice. “It’s your mother!”
This time, the little goats were almost fooled, but they noticed the wolf’s black feet through the crack in the door. “We won’t open the door!” they shouted. “Our mother doesn’t have black feet!”
The wolf realized his mistake and ran to a baker. He tricked the baker into covering his paws with white flour. Now, the wolf’s voice sounded soft, and his feet looked white.
The Wolf Gets Inside
The wolf returned to the house for the third time and knocked on the door. “Open the door, my dear children,” he said gently. “It’s your mother!”
The little goats saw the white feet and heard the soft voice, so they thought it was their mother and opened the door. To their horror, the big, bad wolf burst in! The little goats tried to hide, but the wolf found six of them and swallowed them whole. Only the youngest kid managed to hide in the grandfather clock.
Satisfied with his meal, the wolf left the house and lay down under a tree to sleep.
Mother Goat Returns
When Mother Goat returned home, she was horrified to see the door wide open and the house in disarray. She called out to her children, but no one answered. Finally, the youngest kid crawled out of the clock and told her everything that had happened.
Mother Goat was heartbroken, but she was determined to save her children. She and the youngest kid went out to find the wolf. They found him sleeping soundly under a tree, his belly bulging from his meal.
The Rescue
Mother Goat quickly fetched a pair of scissors, a needle, and thread. She carefully cut open the wolf’s belly, and to her relief, out popped the six little goats, one by one, unharmed! They were overjoyed to be free and hugged their mother tightly.
To teach the wolf a lesson, Mother Goat filled his belly with heavy stones and sewed it back up. When the wolf finally woke up, he was very thirsty and went to the well to drink. But the weight of the stones caused him to lose his balance, and he fell into the well and drowned.
Happily Ever After
The seven little goats and their mother lived happily ever after, safe and sound in their cozy home. They never forgot the lesson about being cautious and always listened to their mother’s advice from that day forward.
