📜 The Story: The Guests
🏠 A Special Visit
One day, a father and his son visited Imam Ali (A.S.) as guests. Imam (A.S.) welcomed them warmly and arranged for their comfort and care.
They sat in a peaceful room, and Imam Ali (A.S.) sat opposite to them, talking to them with kindness. Soon, it was time for a meal. Delicious food was served, and the guests ate with gratitude.

🫧 Washing the Hands
After the meal, Qambar, Imam’s loyal servant, brought a basin and a pitcher full of water for washing the guests’ hands.
To everyone’s surprise, Imam Ali (A.S.) took the pitcher himself and asked the father to extend his hands so that he could pour the water.
The guest, feeling shy and honored, said:
“How is it possible that my Imam serves me? It should be the other way around!”
Imam Ali (A.S.) replied with a gentle smile:
“Here is your brother in faith, eager to serve his brother and earn the pleasure of Allah. Why do you stop him?”
The guest hesitated, feeling overwhelmed by the Imam’s humility.
Finally, Imam Ali (A.S.) said:
“As your Imam, I request you to allow me the honor of this service.”
Hearing these words, the guest humbly accepted.
✨ A Lesson in Respect
As Imam Ali (A.S.) poured the water, he kindly said:
“Let your hands be washed thoroughly. Do not rush, thinking I should be relieved of this duty early.”
When it was the son’s turn, Imam Ali (A.S.) called his own son, Muhammad Ibn Hanafiyyah, and asked him to hold the pitcher and wash the younger guest’s hands.
Looking at his son, Imam Ali (A.S.) said:
“I washed your father’s hands, and my son is washing yours. If your father had not been my guest today, I would have washed your hands myself. But Allah loves to see that when a father and son are present, the father enjoys a privilege and a priority.”
The father and son were deeply touched by Imam Ali’s (A.S.) wisdom and humility.
